About

About

I’m a South Asian Ismaili Muslim screenwriter, actor, and entrepreneur with a passion for marketing, technology, and dark comedy.

Translation: I’m superrr Californian. At least in the cultural melting-pot sense.

Dad from East Africa, mom once a refugee in Italy, and both sisters Canadian-born. It’s in my DNA to embrace anything and everything new. That can look like many things, whether it's...

  • My middle school self (obese, glasses, mushroom haircut), forcing my parents to drive 6 hours to Los Angeles for weekly auditions.
  • Pitching Google Ventures and David Tisch for $1.25M as an eighteen-year-old with no prior experience in tech.
  • Buying an 8-foot-tall halal cart and throwing my back out lugging it around NYC.

Taking these risks motivates my screenwriting. I’m drawn to age-old cultural rifts, generational divides, and adults who age into children (perks of having a big tight-knit family).

Oh & since we’re still here, I also love boxing, Japanese menswear, indie music, advocating for equal rights, traveling, + I make a mean British trifle.

HAGS

Acquired by Snap Inc. · 2022

The yearbook you sign through Snapchat. I co-founded HAGS with my sister Suraya and James Dale during the 2020 lockdown: a viral digital yearbook that grew into a Club-Penguin-style virtual campus. I owned brand, product & go-to-market, recruited 200+ campus ambassadors, and we became the first third-party app to ship full-body Bitmoji through a formal Snap partnership, before Snap acquired us. Backed by Google Ventures and BoxGroup.
